The cultural diversity in the Bay Area makes it one of the best places to live in the world. Cambodian-Americans are certainly significant pieces of that cultural tapestry. The preservation of the Cambodian culture is, therefore, vital. It is paramount not only to the collective community, but also to the Cambodian community, and the individual Cambodians themselves.

Native Khmer Speakers needed

Native Khmer Speakers needed

Avant Assessment ( is a leader in Web-based second-language assessments. We develop, write, and deliver language assessments for various institutions such as schools and government offices. We are going to create a Reading comprehension exam in your language for adults .

We are currently recruiting intelligent, skilled native Khmer speakers, "Target Language Experts," for an "authentic" test-passage project. "Authentic" because we are looking for real-life language samples (simple announcements, short news reports...). "Test-passage" because we are looking for raw passages that will later be turned into test items/questions for assessing Khmer learners’ abilities.

This is contractual, part-time work and requires regular access to the Internet. The TLE must be based and authorized to work in the United States or Canada. The job includes finding passages in Khmer, as well as writing a rough English rendering/translation. You can work from home and schedule your own time. It is a great opportunity for expert native speakers to not only earn extra income, but also use their language skills to share their culture. Note that we will provide one paid training session (over the phone) which will give you the guidelines needed. If you are interested, please send you resume at
